September 11, 2001, tore through our history and our hearts. It left an indelible mark on us and changed our lives forever. Without a doubt, we can all remember exactly where we were that day. For some of us who were not yet born or were very young, the events of that day come alive only through stories, historic photographs, and memorials to those who lost their lives. We hold this ceremony every year as a promise to never forget—to come together as Americans to remember those who cannot be replaced and to honor those who selflessly helped in the rescue and recovery efforts. Let us never forget!
