This position is located on Wake Island. It’s a rotational position in which the selected employee will work a schedule of 3 months on the island and on month off unpaid, Wake Island is 2,100 miles away from HNL. While working on-site housing is provided in the form of a dormitory facility. All meals are furnished through the cafeteria. **You are responsible for the flight from your home base to HNL.** Transportation to wake island is provided by government sponsored aircraft. This is a negotiated union position. Performs general carpentry and assorted duties necessary to maintain, repair, or upgrade facilities, structures, and utilities. **Essential Duties & Job Functions:** + Works both inside and outside of buildings and structures to perform all types of rough and finish carpentry. + Constructs, repairs, modifies, and maintains housing, commercial, and industrial buildings. + Maintains, repairs, and replaces doors, woodwork, paneling, drywall, floor covering, and replaces broken windows, etc. + Installs, repairs, modifies, and opens a variety of locking mechanisms found on doors, desks, compartments, mobile equipment, safes, and vaults. + Examines locking mechanisms and installs new unit or disassembles unit and replaces worn tumblers, springs, and other parts, or repairs them by filing, drilling, chiseling, and grinding. + Opens door locks by moving lock pick in cylinder, or opens safe locks by listening to lock sounds or by drilling. + Uses key cutting machine to make new or duplicate keys, ensuring all keys are kept
