NEW shift differentials! Job Duties Phlebotomists are responsible for collection and procurement of blood and human specimens in the clinical setting. This role is an important component of patient experience, and the individual is expected to collaborate with clinical counterparts to provide a safe environment that promotes the best possible outcomes. + Performs venipunctures and skin punctures to obtain blood specimens according to the Clinical laboratory Standards Institute guidelines. + Demonstrates expertise in patient identification, specimen collection, labeling, accessioning, and processing. + Exhibit strong problem solving skills. + Understands the criteria for specimen acceptability and rejection. + Functions effectively in a team environment. + Works under the leadership of Phlebotomist III, Preanalytical Specialist, Team Lead, Supervisor, or other Laboratory Leader and escalates issues accordingly. + Possess critical thinking skills to adjust to changing work conditions. + Carries out responsibilities in an independent and accountable manner in all assigned care areas. + Function as an autonomous end user of relevant Geisinger business applications and tools. + Performs collection of specimens in the Acute, Post-acute, Clinic and Field Service areas as needed. + Mentors students and new employees. + Expected to conduct themselves in alignment with Geisinger core values and competencies. + Inventory management as required and directed by site or regional lead. + Requires initial and annual competency via Learning Management System which includes an exam and direct observation checklist. + Fost
