The CNA will assist with vital signs, point of care testing, patient movement, and throughput in the Endoscopy Department. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Performs job function in a manner that promotes the safety and health of the worker, co­ workers, patients, and visitors in Milton Hospital. • Under the general management and supervision of the Director, Surgical Services, and /or direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, performs a variety of selected nursing activities, to include but not limited to. o Taking of vital signs o Collection of specimens o Assisting patient with personal hygiene and ambulation. o Provides quality patient care, assisting with activities of daily living. o Communicates effectively with patients and their families where appropriate. o Assist with transport of patients leaving the area to home or inpatient unit. • Participates in the delivery of emergency care under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Physician. • Involvement as directed with quality improvement studies and activities specific to the unit. • Considers specific cultural beliefs and practices when caring for patients. Utilizes interpreter services for patients with limited English proficiency. • Collaborates, cooperates and communicates with other health care providers to ensure quality and continuity of care. • Provides care appropriate to the age groups of patients regularly served; seeks assistance for resources of other age groups that need care. • Participates in formal and informal training programs to improve or augment skills as appropriate.
