Job Title: Heat Treat Operator Job Description The Heat Treat Operator safely sets up, operates, and monitors automatic upsetter equipment and related machinery in a heavy industrial forging environment. This role focuses on producing high-quality parts by following established procedures, performing precise measurements, and maintaining a clean, safe work area while supporting continuous production. Responsibilities - Start up, check, and operate the automatic upsetter and related equipment, including furnaces or heaters, cranes, and conveyors as needed. - Work closely with utility personnel and helpers to transport raw materials safely and efficiently throughout the production process. - Maintain a safe and clean workspace, including the areas on and around the assigned upsetter machine and the surrounding work environment. - Measure raw materials and finished products to verify conformance to specifications using hand and pneumatic tools such as tape measures, dial indicators, gauges, and micrometers. - Inspect the condition of raw materials, monitor the quality of completed products, and track the amount of scrap material to ensure adherence to quality standards and audits for each product line. - Update product line documentation when changes occur to existing part setups, production cadence, or process requirements. - Communicate via radio any relevant updates related to upsetter performance, including changes to unit stock, safety concerns, mechanical issues, or other interruptions to production. - Follow all plant safety rules, procedures, and regulations at all times. - Perform general labor tasks such as material handling, grinding, cutting, and basic equipment support as needed. - Assist with machine setup, troubleshooting, and basic adjustments to support efficient operation. - Perform other duties as assigned to support production and facility needs.
