Employer: Aerotek. **Job Title: Machine Operator** **Job Description** The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and tending sheet metal fabrication machines to produce industrial-grade steel products. Operators work with CNC-controlled equipment, including press brakes, punch presses, and folders, to cut, bend, notch, and form metal according to production specifications. **Responsibilities** + Read work orders and production schedules to determine specifications such as materials to be used, locations of cutting/folding lines, and dimensions and tolerances. + Collaborate with other internal departments to maintain on-time production schedules. + Start machines, choose the correct program for the desired part, monitor operations, and record operational data. + Position guides, stops, holding blocks, or other fixtures to secure and direct work pieces using hand tools and measuring devices. + Position, align, and secure work pieces against fixtures or stops on machine beds or dies. + Measure completed work pieces to verify conformance to specifications using micrometers, gauges, calipers, templates, or rulers. + Conduct quality checks by examining completed work pieces for defects such as chipped edges and marred surfaces, sorting defective pieces according to types of flaws, and recording data. + Perform daily machine safety checks to ensure all safety guards are secure and functioning. + Conduct daily routine maintenance, including cleaning and lubricating machines. + Grind out burrs and sharp edges using portable grinders and other required tools. **Essential Skills** + Proficiency in operating and setting up various machines, including folding machines, brake press, and punch press. + Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately. + Skill in using hand tools, tape measures, micrometers, and calipers. + Competence in troubleshooting machine operations. + Mechanical aptitude and experience with fabrication machine shops. **Additional Skil
