Job Title: Band Saw Operator | 1st Shift | $18+HR Job Description The Band Saw Operator sets up and operates band saw equipment to cut light gauge structural steel and occasional wood components according to specifications. This role requires accurate blueprint reading, precise measuring, and consistent adherence to safety and quality standards while supporting overall production goals on a first-shift schedule. Responsibilities - Operate band saw equipment to cut light gauge structural steel parts to specified dimensions and tolerances. - Cut wood components as needed based on project scope and production requirements. - Read and interpret basic blueprints, shop drawings, and cut lists to determine cutting sequences and dimensions. - Measure, mark, and verify material dimensions using appropriate measuring tools to ensure accuracy and quality. - Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area by following all safety procedures and housekeeping standards. - Perform basic equipment checks and routine maintenance on band saws and related machinery to ensure proper operation. - Work closely with fabrication and production teams to meet daily production goals and schedules. - Assist with material handling, including loading, unloading, staging, and organizing materials for production. - Support general shop tasks such as basic assembly, general labor, and use of hand tools as needed. - Identify and report any equipment issues, material defects, or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel. Additional Skills & Qualifications - Experience with saw operation for both steel and wood components. - Assembly work and use of basic hand tools. - Familiarity with general shop practices and material handling. - Comfort working with tape measures and other precision measuring tools. - Ability to collaborate effectively with fabrication and production teams. - Willingness to perform routine equipment maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
