This role involves troubleshooting collection issues, maintaining equipment and documentation, and making workflow improvement recommendations while working independently in a fast-paced environment, including a recovery center setting. Responsibilities + Perform blood draws and venipunctures using straight needles and butterfly needles with a high level of accuracy and patient care. + Collect and store blood, urine, fecal, and other specimens according to established procedures and test requirements. + Clearly and courteously explain venipuncture, blood draw, and other specimen collection procedures to patients to ensure understanding and comfort. + Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by specific test orders and protocols. + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes and verify that all information is 100% accurate. + Check all test requisitions or computer-generated labels against the script or order to ensure correctness before processing. + Package specimens for transport in accordance with protocol to maintain specimen integrity. + Store specimen samples at the required temperature and place them in appropriate collection containers or tubes, following all procedures specific to each protocol. + Record maintenance data and perform decontamination tasks to support a clean and safe work area. + Update patient information accurately in the system and maintain detailed records related to specimen collection and processing. + Fully understand and interpret physicians’ orders related to laboratory tests and ensure all orders are followed correctly. + Answer telephone calls professionally and provide laboratory results or information to satisfy app
